شعر الأطفال في الوطن العربي تأليف بيان الصفدي منذ أن ارتبط بيان الصفدي بالكتابة للأطفال وبالتحديد في العام 1976 وهو يعاني من كون ثقافة الطفل في الوطن العربي مهمشة في البيت والمدرسة والمؤسسات الرسمية والخاصة، فهي تجري وراء الحالة الاحتفالية وليس وراء العمل المنظم المخطط المدعوم ماديا ومعنويا. كانت صلة بيان الصفدي بشعر الأطفال وطيدة، فهو يكتبه وينقده ويؤرخ له متتبعا خيوطه الأولى، فقد بدأ بدراسة «فنون الكتابة الأدبية للأطفال»، ثم دراسة في «قصيدة الطفل»، ثم دراسة في «شعر الأطفال في سوريا». دأب بيان يجمع ويسمع ويراسل حتى وصل إلى مادة مقبولة علميا في دراسة واقع شعر الأطفال في الوطن العربي.
