يحتوي كتاب (شرح البرهان لأرسطو ؛ وتلخيص البرهان) على مصنفات ابن رشد على أرسطو وهي : أولا مختصرات وجوامع عبارة عما فهمه ابن رشد من أرسطو دون أن يتعلق الشرح بالنص مباشرة. ثانيا : تلاخيص : وتسمى أيضا شروح صغرى عبارة عن مواكبة أرسطو دون إيراد المتون. ثالثا : شروح كبرى : وفيها يورد ابن رشد قول أرسطو، ثم يأتي بالشرح المسهب. وشرح البرهان من الشروح الكبرى.
