جيمس بيكى من الكتاب البارزين حيث له تاريخ كتابي مشرف وفي هذا الجزء يتناول تاريخيا من القاهرة والدلتا إلي سقارة ويعترف المؤلف \"جيمس بيكي\" باستحالة حصر ووصف الآثار المصرية، ويري ذلك مثل عد وترتيب رمال شاطئ البحر أو نجوم السماء. ولذلك يقتصر علي وصف آثار الفن والمعمار المصري غير الأهرامات والمعابد والمقابر التي تستحوذ علي اهتمام الزوار والسائحين المولعين بمشاهدة آثار الفراعنة، وينصرفون عن رؤية مخلفات الحضارة الرومانية والقبطية والإسلامية، مع أن تاريخ مصر الطويل يتجاوز أربعة آلاف سنة أشرقت خلالها شمس الحضارة المصرية، وبلغت أوجها، ثم بدأت في الأفول، ومع ذلك كانت مبدعة حتى في غروبها.
