Overview
على الرغم من أن لا شيء يمكن أن يواسي الثكالى فيمن قضوا أو أصيبوا في الحرب في وقائع وحشية غايتها أهداف عبثية، فإن بعض المفكرين يرى في الحرب ذروة التجربة الإنسانية بحلوها ومرها، تختبر فيها القيم والمبادئ على أرض الواقع. وقد كانت الحرب العالمية الأولى من أشد الحروب وحشية إذ شهدت أول استخدام للطائرات الحربية والغازات السامة، وقتل خلال معاركها ملايين الأشخاص، سواء من العسكريين أو المدنيين، وحفلت سنواتها الأربع بالعديد من القصص المأساوية الحزينة وأيضا الطريفة والغريبة. وفي هذا الكتاب جمع المؤلف بعضا من هذه القصص التي نشرت في الجرائد والمجلات العربية والأجنبية الصادرة في فترة الحرب
