يتحدث هذا الكتاب عن الكذب، والحدود الفاصلة بين الصدق والكذب، والكذب الصامت والكذب الشبيه بالحق، والكذب العملي، وصور الكذاب والمنافق والمالق ؛ لماذا يكذب الناس، وهل يلجئون للكذب كحيلة للهروب من الواقع وكوسيلة لتجميل صور ذواتهم في مرآة الآخرين، على مبدأ \"لا نكذب لكن نتجمل\"، وهل أصبح للكذب فلسفة خاصة في زمن تعليب القيم والمعايير ؟ الكذب آفة اجتماعية خطيرة، تتضمن البعد عن قول الحقيقة، والتحايل عليها ؛ كشهادة الزور، ونقل الأحداث بتلوينها وتبديلها. يقول الله تعالى : \"إن اللهَ لا يهدي من مسرف كذاب\". وقد يكون للكذب دوافع عديدة ؛ كالطمع، والرغبة في إفساد العلاقات بين الناس بسبب الغيرة والحسد. هذا الكتاب يضيف للقارئ العربي وللمكتبة العربية ألوانا فلسفية عن مفهوم الكذب.
