يتناول الكتاب واقع المرأة العراقية، وكيف تحدث عنها المبدعون والمبدعات العراقيات من خلال السرد الروائي والقصة القصيرة والشعر، بعد إنهيار الإمبراطورية العثمانية، واحتلال الانكليز للعراق بعد الحرب العالمية الأولى، وتأسيس المملكة العراقية 1921 م وحتى العام 2021 م، أي مائة عام وما رأفقها من تقلبات سياسية واجتماعية، لكشف الواقع المرير خلال تلك الفترة، وتخلخل في النسيج السيسيولوجي لطبيعية المجتمع العراقي، على أثر تعاقب السلطات السياسية، التي حكمت العراق، وخوض غمار الحروب خلال الحقب والعقود التي تلت، حتى الألفية الثالثة.
