إن الدور الذي لعبته الشيعة في تطور العراق الحديث السياسي صفحة مهمة جدا في التاريخ السياسي لهذا القطر. ووجه أهميته أنه اتخذ شكله النهائي في أثناء الفترة التكوينية الأولى في نشأة الدولة العراقية الحديثة. ولأن الشيعة كانت أكثرية مغلوبة على أمرها في العراق فإن أدباء الشيعة وعلماؤها في العراق لم يعنوا بدراسة هذه الناحية فلم تظهر لهم مؤلفات في هذا الحقل. غير أن بعضهم عالجوا نواحي هذه القضية بطريقة خفية مبطنة خشية أن يتهموا بالميول الطائفية.
