تتتبع رواية (سبع رسائل إلى أم كلثوم) قصة عائلة صغيرة في قرية جليلية نائية على مدار شهور عدة، تبدأ يوم 8 ديسمبر-كانون الأول 1987، اليوم الذي أندلعت فيه الانتفاضة الفلسطينية الأولى. مصطفى الأب (45) رجل امتثالي يريد العيش بسلام ولا يتدخل في السياسة، فيما تتابع زوجته هاجر (35) السياسة وأخبارها بصمت. وأمام مناظر القمع والضرب والقتل الآتية من الضفة الغربية وغزة تكتب في دفترها الصغير مشاعرها وقصائدها لفلسطين والشهداء والحب، إلى جانب رسائل طويلة تكتبها لأم كلثوم.
