يتناول هذا الكتاب جانب معين من جوانب الفكر التي تناولها ابن رشد وهو جانب الفكر السياسي وهذا الفصل بدوره ينقسم إلى أربعة مباحث يتناول كل مبحث منها فكرة سياسية معينة ناقشها وتعرض لها ابن رشد حيث يتناول في المبحث الأول مفهوم علم السياسة من حيث الأغراض والمبادئ التي يختص بها هذا العلم أما المبحث الثاني فيتناول فكرة أنظمة الحكم بينما يتعرض المبحث الثالث والمبحث الرابع لفكرتين كان يفتقد لهما المجتمع الذي يعيش فيه ابن رشد حيث يبين المبحث الثالث فكرة الحرية السياسية والمبحث الرابع الذي يكون خاتمة للفصل يتناول فكرة العدالة السياسية.
