تتناول الدراسة استخدام الذكاء الاصطناعي في مرحلة جمع الاستدلال في الجريمة حيث أنه تعتبر الجريمة ظاهرة اجتماعية، تصاحب كافة المجتمعات المتقدمة منها والمتخلفة عن دروب التقدم، ويصفها البعض بأنها سلوك اجتماعى مضاد للمجتمع ومخالف للقانون وثقافة المجتمع، وهي على هذا الأساس توجد في كل المجتمعات مع اختلاف ملامحها من مجتمع الآخر. وتشير الدراسات والتقارير الدولية حول ظاهرة الجريمة في مختلف دول العالم إلى ارتفاع معدلاتها واتجاهها نحو الزيادة عاما بعد عام، وبسبب التطور الهائل في وسائل الاتصال والانتقال، تطورت أشكال الجريمة وأساليب ارتكابها، وتعدت الجريمة جرائم الاعتداء على النفس والمال إلى جرائم مستحدثة مثل الجرائم الاقتصادية، وجرائم الإرهاب والمخدرات وغيرها.
