قادتنا الشواهد والأدلة التى وجدناها إلى أن مصر شهدت نوعين من العروض المسرحية، اتخذا سبيلين مختلفين لا يمكن الخلط بينهما هما : الحفلات الطقسية والدراما الدينية. وكانت الحفلات الطقسية يقيمها الكهنة فى المعابد، وقد يشارك فيها النظارة، ولم يكن لها من الدراما إلا الأداء، أما المسرحية الدينية فكانت شيئا آخر يخالف هذه المخالفة كلها، فلقد كانت مسرحية حقة بمدلولها الذى نعرفه اليوم، تحاكى فيها المحاكاة كلها أحداث الماضى بصورها أو كما تخال.
