Overview
الحكايات الشعبية الشامية هي عبارة عن مجموعة من القصص التي تم تناقلها شفهيا. رويت الحكايات في الأصل من قبل أهل الشام الذي يضم سوريا ولبنان والأردن وفلسطين وإسرائيل. القصص نفسها ليست فريدة من نوعها في هذه المنطقة ولكن هناك الكثير من أوجه التشابه مع الثقافات الأخرى في الشرق الأوسط. كل قصة مليئة بالمخلوقات السحرية والأبطال الذين يقومون بمهام غالبا ما تكون خطيرة ولكنها مجزية دائما. يعتقد بعض العلماء أنه لا يوجد سوى ستة أو سبعة شخصيات رئيسية في هذه القصص بينما يعتقد البعض الآخر أنه يمكن أن يكون هناك ما يصل إلى اثنين وخمسين شخصية مختلفة.
