Overview
امتلك ابن الهيثم عقلية علماء القرن العشرين من غير مبالغة، إذ أثبت علماء اليوم في الشرق والغرب أنه أدرك ماهية الذرة. وأن نظريته عن الضوء أو حتى للفنانين في أوروبا فكرة البعد الثالث في فن الرسم. وأن جهوده هي الأساس الذي استند عليه العلماء في اكتشاف الليزر. وذكر العلماء أن كل النظريات الرياضية للعلماء الأمريكيين الذين درسوا إمكانية الصعود إلى القمر مقتبسة من ابتكارات ابن الهيثم. ومن آثار ابن الهيثم التي عرفت في العصر الحديث ما يطلق عليه الآن البؤرة فقد درس خواص المرايا المقعرة، وكيفية تجميع أشعة الشمس في نقطة واحدة تحدث فيها حرارة شديدة، وهذا هو المبدأ عينه الذي يقوم عليه الفرن الشمسي المستعمل في وقتنا الحاضر.
