يتناول دراسة مقارنة في الفكر الفلسفي والمنطقي بين اثنين من كبار الفلاسفة المسلمين، وهما شهاب الدين السهروردي وابن تيمية. يركز الكتاب على نقد كل منهما للمنطق الأرسطي الذي كان له تأثير كبير في الفلسفة الإسلامية، لكنه لم يكن مقبولا عند بعض المفكرين، يعرض الكتاب بشكل مبدئي مفهوم المنطق الأرسطي الذي يعتبر جزءا من الفلسفة اليونانية، خاصة فيما يتعلق بالنظرية القياسية (القياس المنطقي) التي طرحها أرسطو، هذا المنطق كان له تأثير كبير على الفلاسفة المسلمين في العصور الوسطى، وكان الأساس في تعليم الفلسفة والمنطق.
