أبحر العيد كسفين عائم يجوب العوالم الإنسانية بمرافئها وشطآنها في مظاهر حضارية متنوعة منذ الألف الثالث قبل الميلاد. الى الآن نستشف وحدتها التراثية والروحية، الإرثية من خلال الاحتفالات والعادات والتقاليد الشعبية. حيث أن هناك تراثا شعبيا جمعيا عقليا متوارثا لدى الشعوب يطل علينا من خلال أدوار اجتماعية متعاقبة ومتفاوتة، مختلفة حينا، ومتقاربة أو متباعدة أحيانا. وفي عاداتنا ومثلنا واحتفالاتنا الشعبية .. أثر متوارث لحضارات قديمة مرت في فترات حتى استقرت على ما هي عليه الآن، وقد قام المؤلف بتنسيق هذه العادات ونشرها .. علها تلقي ضوءا وتفتح نافذة .. تتيح كشف معانيها وتاريخها وأسرارها.
