كتاب \"تاريخ الصحف والمجلات الإيرانية\" من تأليف د. محمد صدر هاشمي، يتناول دور الصحف الإيرانية في الكشف عن الخفايا داخل المجتمع الإيراني وتقديم الحقائق للمواطنين، على الرغم من الصعوبات الكبيرة التي واجهتها مثل المصادرة والحبس والإيقاف وقصف الأقلام. بعض أصحاب الصحف اضطروا لإصدار صحفهم في بلدان أخرى ليتمكنوا من أداء دورهم المجتمعي. تعتبر الصحف والمجلات غذاء فكري يومي لتنوير عقول الناس من خلال اطلاعهم على مجريات الأحداث والمعارف، بتناولها شؤون الحياة السياسية والاقتصادية والاجتماعية والأدبية. كان الرقيب يحمل عصاه ويغلق دور النشر بلا رحمة لأنها بوابة المعرفة. يتناول الكتاب بداية ظهور الصحافة في إيران، حيث ظهرت الصحف الأولى في القرن التاسع عشر، ومن بينها صحيفة \"كاهل\" التي كانت من أقدم الصحف التي صدرت في إيران في ذلك الوقت.
