في سنة 1957م صدر في باريس كتاب جورج بتاي «الأدب والشر»، وهو كتاب سجالي نقدي يتناول، عبر مدخل وثمانية فصول، ثماني شخصيات أدبية غربية ساهمت بصناعة المشهد الأدبي والفكري هي : إيميلي جين برونتي (بريطانية)، وشارل بودلير (فرنسي)، وجول ميشله (فرنسي)، ووليم بليك (إنجليزي)، وماركيز دي ساد (فرنسي)، ومارسيل بروست (فرنسي)، وفرانس كافكا (تشيكي)، وجان جينيه (فرنسي). تجدر الإشارة إلى أن «الأدب والشر»، ترجمهُ إلى لغة الضاد حسين عجّة (2019م) في طبعته الثانية، وصدر في بغداد عن دار سطور بواقع 224 من القطع المتوسط.
