يتحدث الكاتب في ھذا الكتاب عن أطراف الصراع السیاسي في الستینات والسبعینات ويحددھا في طرفین أساسیین ھما جبھة التحرير الوطني والجبھة الشعبیة واللجنة التأسیسیة (لعمال البحرين) من جھة والإدارة البريطانیة ومعھا الإدارة المحلیة من جھة أخرى وعن طبیعة الصراع الدائر بین ھذين الطرفین كان اعتماد الكاتب على الوثائق البريطانیة جلیا وواضحا حیث كشفت الوثائق مدى تركیز الإدارة البريطانیة على التخلص من ھذه القوى المناوئة للوجود البريطاني في البحرين وفي الخلیج العربي والكیفیة التي يتم فیھا ملاحقتھا وضربھا لكن ھذا النضال تتوج في نھاية المطاف في طرح مشروع للديمقراطیة الجزئیة على الطريقة الكويتیة.
