يتناول كتابنا هذا دراسة الخرائط الخاصة فهو يدرس أنواع خرائط التوزيعات والطرق الفنية في إنشائها بكل ما تتضمنه من مشاكل \"التكنيك\" والإنشاده التطبيق ولقد حرص عند كتابة موضوعاته أن يفيد منها كل من الطالب العالم والباحث المتخصص إذ يبدأ كل موضوع في خرائط التوزيعات بدراسة شاملة ومبسطة تغرق القارئ العام بالطرق الفنية عند إنشاء هذا النوع من الخرائط أو ذاك ثم يتم التطرق بالدراسة إلى معالجة المشاكل الفنية التي يواجهها الكرتوجرافي المتخصص عندما يستخدم هذه الطرق استخداما دقيقا ثم طرق التغلب عليها والتي قد تتضمن استخدام بعض الرياضيات وأساليب علم الإحصاء.
