تنطلق أحداث الرواية مع سقوط فتاة عن سطح البرج هل هو انتحار أم مجرد حادث عرضي أو أنها جريمة قتل وعلى رغم أن أحداث الطابق الألف تقع في المستقبل ولكن أجواءها ليست مقيتة ليس هناك ديكتاتور شرس أو نظام طبقي أو معارك قاتلة إنه لا يزال عالمنا الذي نعرفه ولا زالت تحركنا فيه الوحدة والرغبة والقهر والحب وأشياء أخرى تجعلنا من طينة البشر لذلك وعلى رغم أن شخصيات «الطابق الألف» يعيشيون مئة سنة من الآن إلا أن مشاكلهم لا تختلف كثيرا عن تلك التي نواجهها نحن اليوم حيث تتقاطع دروب حياتهم على رغم تناقض شخصياتهم وتستمر صداقاتهم على رغم اختلاف مصالحهم الشخصية.
