يحاول كتاب \"شعر بني سلول\" أن يلملم ديوانا شعريا لقبيلة عربية لم يقيض الله لها في قديم أو حديث من يجمع شعر شعرائها، \"الذين تناثرت أشعارهم موضعا وتباعدت مصدرا، فقصيدة هنا وأخرى هناك، ومقطوعة في موضع، وبيت أو أبيات في آخر، لا يجمعها اتجاه ولا يؤلف بينها فكر أو فن\"، ومن هنا جاء هذا الكتاب الذي جمع أشعاره ودرسها وحققها الدكتور (وليد محمد السراقبي)، فقدم إضمامة طيبة من أشعار هذه القبيلة ووضع شعرها منسقا موثقا ومشروحا مفسرا، \"ليكون عونا للباحثين، ودوحة يتفيأ ظلالها الدارسون ومتعة لمن هم لتراث هذه الأمة عاشقون\".
