يتناول الكتاب منطقة القصيم، التي كانت مسرحا للكثير من الوقائع التاريخية من قبل الإسلام وحتى عام 1350هـ، حيث تناول الباحث من خلال المجلدات الثلاثة وحقق المعارك التي وقعت في منطقة القصيم، سواء تلك المعارك التي وقعت في أمكنة معروفة ومشهورة، ودونها المؤرخون الأوائل، أو تلك المعارك التي حدثت في المنطقة ولم تحقق من قبل. ولم يغفل المؤلف تحقيق الأماكن والمواضع الجغرافية التي وردت عرضا في سير بعض الغزوات والمعارك، وتلك المواقع التي هي خارج منطقة القصيم لكنها ذات إرتباط بمواقع داخل منطقة القصيم.
