تتبين الإشكالية للكتاب ماهية الجمال والجميل والعمل فيه وله وعليه، إلا إن الاختلاف ضرورة ومبعث ترحيب عند فلاسفة الحداثة وما بعدها. فما الوعي الجمالي ؟ وكيف يتذوق الإنسان الفنون ويعتمد بعضها ويقاربها ويزدري الأخرى ويفارقها ؟ وهل لهذا للوعي مرجعيات وأصول ومسببات تؤثر في الذات ؟ هذه الأسئلة تحتاج إلى حفر في المعرفة وفلسفتها وكشف يعتمد التحليل والتركيب للفنون حسب تعالقاتها وعندما نؤمن إن الفن أداء بتأويل يتحرك بفاعلية بين النص ومتلقيه، نؤمن إن التأويل محرك للجديد، لأنه أداة تحرير للوعي الجمالي من مقدسات وإيقونات استعبدته لقرون، حتى انبرت الحداثة وما بعدها لتعلن الرفض وتؤسس صورة وعي جمالي أساسه تقويض المقدس والثابت ومن ثم تؤسس حركة إنتاج يعلن الانفتاح أساسه الاختلاف، فتهاوت قيم ومعايير وتأسست ابستيمولوجيا اللاقيمة واللامعيار وتحرك القياس وأشكل التثبت من الإبداع.
