يعتبر كتاب \" التاو \" أهم الكتب المقدسة في الصين على الإطلاق ؛ ويذهب الكاتب إلى اعتباره أهم كتاب ديني بعد القرآن والإنجيل ؛ فقد تناوله منذ آلاف السنين الباحثون بالبحث والمترجمون بالترجمة، وقد اثر هذا الكتاب كثيرا في كل أديان الشرق الأدنى، بما فيها البوذية والطاوية والكونفوشيوسية والشنتوية. كما تبنت هذا الكتاب عدة مدارس غربية. وقد قام الكاتب بترجمته ، للمرة الأولى، للغة العربية، ليطلع المفكرون العرب على أسراره لفهم عقلية ودين وفلسفة جزء كبير من البشر عبر آلاف السنين.
