اختار الباحث الأعشى فلماذا الأعشى طالما أننا أصحاب رؤية خاصة إنه أحد أضلاع البلاغة التي هي التراكيب الصور والإيقاع والتي هي كل لا يتجزأ فنحن بحاجة إلى شاعر نطبق عليه رؤيتنا البلاغية وقد بدا الباحث دراسته للعصر الجاهلية ليكون قد تملك زمام الدراسة الأدبية وذلك لما للعصر الجاهلي من مكانة بالنسبة للعصور التالية وقد ذكر الشاعر مولد الأعشى وبيئته وقبيلته رحلاته التي قام بها وذكر مجالس شربة وطربه والمؤثرات النفسية التي وجهت إبداعه وشغفه بالمرأة فقد كان شغوفا بامرأة مفتونا بها فيقول دكتور محمد حسين بان المرأة لما تكون في نظر الأعشى إلا وسيلة من وسائل ألهو فهو لا يحب بالمعنى الذي نعرفه ويعرفه الشعراء ولكنة يحب في المرأة نفسه وشهوته وقد كان له حسي الموسيقى رائع.
