هذا المعجم ليس الأول من نوعه في اللغة العربية ولن يكون الأخير وهو ليس كتاب لغة أو قواعد كما هو معروف بل هو جهد تراكمي أو كمي لمفردات ومصطلحات غلفها ضباب الزمن وأهملها العامة والخاصة لعدم الحاجة إليها فأصبحت جزءا من ماض غبر وتراث سلف جامدة تستعصي على الفهم والإدراك فكان لا بد من التصدي لها بهدف شرحه ووضعها في إطار مصدرها الأساسي ومعناها الذي استعملت فيه، وحسبي أنه جاء يسد ثغرة في المكتبة التاريخية العربية إذ يتمكن طلابنا من فهم بعض المفردات والمصطلحات وإدراك معانيها دون غموض أو التباس وخصوصا لجهة التوسع في معرفة مصدرها اللغوي والإطار الزمني الذي استعملت فيه.
