للمرء أن يعبر عن أفكاره بكل يسر وسهولة، أما الدراسة الصوتية بحد ذاتها، فتأتي من وثاقة اتصالها بعلوم العربية الأخرى، صرفها، ونحوها، ودلالتها، إضافة لما بين الدرس الصوتي وعلم التجويد من علاقة وثيقة، يهدف فيها حسن تدبر القرآن، وحسن تجويده وتحقيقه. ومن هنا جاء هذا الكتاب للكشف عن ملامح الدرس الصوتي عند أحد علماء التجويد، في القرن الرابع الهجري، وذلك هو أبو عمرو الداني. فقد قمت بجمع مؤلفات الداني التي لها علاقة بالدرس الصوتي عنده، ووجدت بعدها أن الداني له مائة وعشرون مصنفا جلها في الدراسات الصوتية، لكن قسمها الأكبر لا يزال مخطوطا أو ضائعا. أما أهم كتبه التي اعتمدتها، لتجلية المفاهيم والآراء.
