حظيت القصة القصيرة الأردنية في الثلث الأخير من القرن الماضي بإهتمام الأدباء والنقاد، وانتقلت القصة القصيرة من مرحلة البدايات والنشأة إلى مرحلة جديدة من التطور والتجريب والحداثة. لقد وجد القاص العالم أمامه بأحداث مكثفة، من ثورة تكنولوجية، وهزائم ساحقة لبني قومه، وإنسحاق الذات، ومشكلات سياسية كبرى، ومعاهدة السلام الأردنية الإسرائيلية، واتفاقية أوسلو، وضياع قرار حق العودة، ثم بعد ذلك الحروب في العراق، واستيعاب الأردن لعدد كبير من المهجرين الجدد، وغير ذلك. هذه الأحداث أثرت في القاص الأردني، فظهر تيار الوعي وصياغة الوعي عن طريق الهذيان المتدفق من الذهن بحيث يبدو بطل القصة وكأنه يهذي، أو مضطرب الذهن والأفكار، لكنه يقدم-من خلال هذيانه-رؤية معقولة لمسألة ما، فيسرد الوعي عن طريق اللاوعي وهذا ما نجده في تفسير الوعي والأسطورة والحكاية الدينية والتاريخية عند كتاب القصة.
