إن هذه الدراسة وإن شملت الكثير من جوانب نتاج البحتري الفكري، إلا أنها أبعد ما تكون عن الإحاطة بسائر جوانب نشاطه، وإن خير دراسة له ما كانت على صعيد الأدب المقارن ولا سيما بينه وبين أستاذه أبي تمام. ومما دفعني لدراسة هذه الشخصية من شخصيات تراثنا الأدبي تلك الدهشة التي أصابت معاصريه وامتدت إلى أبناء القرن العشرين بعد أن قدم بقدرته الفائقة وصف المناظر التي ينبت فيها جمال ويعلوها رونق. وليس في ذلك سر! فإن شاعرنا يحب الجمال أنى ظهر وكيفما تمثل. إن أكثر الدراسات نسخت في مجال ضيق، مما يلزم منا مسؤولية الإبلاغ حتى يعرف أكثر الناس، أدبية يصهل في أعماقها فن عظيم يبحث عن سعادة الإنسان وإغناء مصيره. أن هناك أصواتا هذه السلسلة تهديك إلى شعراء وأدباء لهم أثرهم في الفكر الأدبي الإنساني، كما تهديك إلى شاعر رقيق الإحساس.
