يتناول كتاب هوامش المقريزي لصلاح عيسى مجموعة من الحكايات التاريخية عن مصر بداية من عصر المماليك والاحتلال العثماني لمصر مرورا بحكم محمد علي وأسرته، ونهاية بثورة 1919 الحكايات قصيرة لا تتجاوز معظمها الصفحة الواحدة لكنها عميقة الأثر وركز فيها الكاتب على كفاح الشعب المصري ضد الاستعمار بأنواعه ومعاناته الشديدة من ظلم حكامه.
