يحتوي هذا الكتاب على دراسة إلى تبيين الدور التاريخي الذي لعبته عدن في التاريخ العام للدولة الرسولية باعتبار عدن العاصمة الاقتصادية وميناء الدولة كما أعطت الدراسة صورة واضحة عن الحياة الاجتماعية في عدن خلال فترة الدراسة 1228-1454 م أي قرابة 231 عاما وعرض تاريخي تناول نسب بني رسول ثم عدن في أواخر العهد الأيوبي وعهد السلاطين تباعا وتناول المؤلف النشاط الاقتصادي لعدن في عهد السلاطين الرسوليين والوضع الاجتماعي للمدينة من حيث البناء الطبقي والتركيبة الاجتماعية.
