هذا الكتاب هو محاولة للتشبث بحبال الأمل، هو رسالة مفتوحة لشاب مصري ربما يكون ذات يوم رئيسا لمصر بعد أن نجح المصريون في كسر طبيعة العلاقة بين الحاكم والمحكوم في الخامس والعشرين من يناير 2011 م وأكدوا ذلك بما لا يدع مجالا للشك في نيتهم للتغيير في الثلاثين من يونيو 2013 م. ليس الانشغال بالشأن المصري مقتصرا على الباحثين السياسيين، وليس كل حديث في شأن مصر هو ا قاصرا على فئة بعينها وليست هي الحكم فقط، الشأن المصري هو حديث سياسة، وليست السياسة شأن المجال الذي يحق لكل مصري-بل يجب عليه-أن يهتم به، كل واحد من زاوية نظره وبخبراته المختلفة. في هذا الكتاب، \"واحد مصري\"، وهي صفة تثير الفخر في جنبات روحي، ولكنها كذلك تثير بداخلي غيرة على حال المصريين الذين يستحقون الأفضل. نحن نستحق الأفضل، وهذ الكتاب إنما هو ممارسة لواجبي وحقي في الاهتمام بالشأن المصري سعيا وراء هذا الأفضل.
