هذا الكتاب الذي يعد واحدا من أهم السير الذاتية التي صدرت في السنوات الأخيرة تظهر زوجة عبد الناصر للمرة الأولى شاهدة على الأحداث التي مرت بها مصر منذ حرب فلسطين 1948 وحتى رحيل عبد الناصر في 28 سبتمبر 1970 تأتي هذه المذكرات التي كتبت بعفوية آسرة وبأسلوب بسيط شيق مزيجا من السيرة الذاتية والعائلية غير أنها وهي تسرد محطات حياتها مع الزعيم الراحل تكشف الغطاء عن مواقف وأحداث سياسية لا تزال محاطة بغلالة من الغموض بحيث تضيف جديدا ومفاجئا أحيانا وتقدم ضمن ما تقدم قراءة عن كثب لتفاصيل العلاقة الإنسانية بين جمال عبد الناصر وأعضاء مجلس قيادة ثورة يوليو 1952 حاولت تحية عبد الناصر كتابة مذكراتها مرتين الأولى في حياته والثانية بعيد رحيله لكنها لم تقو على المواصلة فمزقت ما خطت يدها حتى كانت المحاولة الثالثة في الذكرى الثالثة لرحيل «الرئيس» كما كانت تسميه.
