يكتسب هذا الكتاب أهمية خاصة من منطلقين اثنين أولهما أنها ترصد ولأول مرة على صعيد الجامعات اليمنية كافة تجربة أدبية في تخصص جديد ونادر هو \"نقد النقد\" وهو من التجارب الأدبية الصعبة لأنه لا يستند إلى النتاج الأدبي مباشرة وإنما يشتغل على النتاج النقدي وهنا تكمن أهميته وصعوبته لأن قوانين الإبداع الأدبي شعرا كان أو نثرا تختلف عن قوانين النقد القائمة على خطاب معرفي وهو ما يستدعي نضجا وممارسة وعمقا في البحث والدراسة كما يأتي أهمية هذا الكتاب من أنها تدرس تجربة نقدية مهمة ليس على صعيد اليمن فقط وإنما على صعيد الوطن العربي إذ ترصد النتاج النقدي لعلم اليمن ورمز ثقافته.
