هذه رواية قصيرة أو قصة طويلة لا تتجاوز السبعين صفحة للكاتب \"كورزيو مالابارته\" وتدور أحداثها في نابولي بعد الحرب العالمية الثانية مباشرة لكن أثرها لا يقاس بعدد صفحاتها ويكفي أن نعلم أن ناقل الكتاب إلى العربية هو الشاعر المصري الراحل صلاح عبد الصبور الذي لم يترجم عملا آخر أما كاتب مقدمة الترجمة العربية فهو الناقد السينمائي اللامع سمير فريد الذي قام بإطلاعنا على عالم الكاتب كورزيو مالابارته وتعريفنا بفيلم \"جلد الإنسان\" كما أخرجته ليليان كفاني.
