هذا الكتاب توخى منه المؤلف سد ثغرة واسعة في المكتبة العربية التي تكاد تخلو، وهي بالفعل كذلك، من أي مؤلف بالعربية عن تاريخ الشعب الأرمني وحضارته وعلاقاته بالشعوب والإمبراطوريات القديمة والحديثة على مدى القرون التي سبقت الميلاد وحتى اليوم، في حين أنه من السهولة بمكان، أن نعثر في أسواق ومكتبات بيروت ودمشق والقاهرة وبغداد وسواها من العواصم العربية على مؤلفات، وبالعشرات، موضوعة باللغات الحية الأجنبية : الإنكليزية والفرنسية والألمانية والروسية تتحدث كلها عن هذه المواضيع بالذات، أي عن تاريخ هذا الشعب وتراثه ومآسيه.
