تناول الدكتور حسين في كتابه هذا تاريخ الدروز منذ تأسيس الديانة الدرزية حتى يومنا هذا وثم ينتقل إلى تاريخ بعض العائلات الدرزية الهامة وبعض التحزبات التقليدية، فيذكر الجنبلاطية واليزبكية والنكدية وبني عبد الملك وبني حصن الدين وبني علم الدين وبني عماد الدين وآل أرسلان وهو يردد بإيجاز تاريخ هذه العائلات الدرزية ويتتحدث بعد ذلك عن طبقات المجتمع عند الدروز، فيتناول \"العقال\" و\"الجهال\" وفي القسم الثاني من كتابه يتناول عقائد الطائفة الدرزية مستعينا بما وقع بين يديه من الكتب المقدسة لهذه الطائفة.
