الاثنتا عشرة قصة التي يضمها هذا الكتاب كتبت على امتداد الثمانية عشر عاما الماضية وقبل أن تتخذ شكلها الحالي، ظهرت خمس منها كمقالات صحفية وسيناريوهات سينمائية وواحدة كمسلسل تلفزيوني وهناك واحدة أخرى كنت قد رويتها قبل خمسة عشر عاما في مقابلة مسجلة وقد أعاد كتابتها الصديق الذي رويتها له ونشرها وها أنذا أعود الآن إلى كتابتها استنادا إلى تلك الرواية. لقد كانت ولادة هذا الكتاب تجربة إبداعية غريبة تستحق الشرح، حتى ولو كان ذلك لجعل الأطفال الذين يريدون أن يصبحوا كتابا حين يكبرون، يعرفون منذ الآن كم هو إدمان الكتابة شره.
