هي سيدة تزامن مولدها مع نشوب الحرب العالمية الثانية، عاصرت حرب فلسطين من حكايات والدتها عن مذابح العصابات الصهيونية للفلسطينيين، وشهدت مولد ثورة يوليو وانتمت فكريا لمواقف عبد الناصر، عاصرت نكسة 67 ثم انتصارات أكتوبر التي تحولت في رأيها إلى هزيمة بعد زيارة السادات للقدس وعليه تم اعتقالها مع رفاق النضال الوطني لمعارضتهم الإتفاقية، لتعيش بعدها أشكال الهيمنة الأمريكية على مصر لمدة 30 عاما والتي انتهت ببزوغ ثورة يناير .. هي الدكتورة عواطف عبد الرحمن، أستاذة الإعلام بكلية الإعلام جامعة القاهرة وإبنة الجنوب.
