Mohammed Bin Rashid Library welcomes the Philippines Partnership Circle delegation of leading authors and writers

With a gift of various books and manuscripts

Mohammed Bin Rashid Library welcomed a delegation of elite writers and authors from the Philippines Partnership Circle on Tuesday, to explore the Library’s renowned facilities and services and multilingual knowledge treasures.

Welcoming the delegation was Dr. Mohammed Salem Al Mazrouei, Board Member of Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, along with a number of related employees and officials.

Dr. Mohammed Al Mazrouei started the meeting by welcoming the delegation and writers to Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, highlighting its leading position as a centre for academics, writers, though-leaders, and innovators worldwide. “Mohammed Bin Rashid Library offers an added value in literature, scientific, and intellectual spheres, and is a reflection of Dubai's ongoing cultural progress. The Library also plays a role in shaping the future of the UAE's cultural landscape, in addition to promoting the country's position as a cultural hub and a beacon of knowledge attracting researchers, authors, and thought leaders from all over the region and beyond,” Dr. Al Mazrouei said.

“At Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, we strive to establish knowledge-based partnerships with local and international institutions, aimed at creating special channels for knowledge exchange in all spheres and specialties, through openness to international organisations and specialised institutions, the adoption of best practices, and the provision of pioneering ideas and forward-looking consultations about the services of the libraries. These objectives can eventually catalyse positive cultural movement across the community, underlined by a knowledge-based economy,” he further added.

Throughout their tour in the Library, the delegation visited the Information Centre, Public Library, Emirates Library, Young Adults Library, Children’s Library, Atlas and Map Library, Media and Arts Library, Business Library, Periodicals Library, Special Collection Library, in addition to Treasures of the Library and the study rooms. They also explored the Library’s various facilities and services, as well as its contribution to driving cultural, political, and social development.

Concluding the visit, the Philippines Partnership Circle delegation presented Mohammed Bin Rashid Library with a special collection of books and manuscripts, applauding the Library’s unique knowledge experiences to its visitors of all ages.

Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, built over more than 500,000 sq. ft. including land and floor spaces, is one of the most remarkable buildings in the Middle East, with an architectural concept inspired by the "The Rehl"- the traditional X-shaped lectern used across the Islamic world. The Library is one of the most technologically-advanced libraries in the world, utilising artificial intelligence technologies (AI), augmented reality (AR), holograms, and smart robots.

In collaboration with the Read and Enjoy Center, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library organised a session to discuss the book "Human After Update" by the author Sherif Arafat, listed among self-development books. It is one of more than a million paper, electronic, and audio books available to visitors of the library, as part of its vision and strategy to nurture the cultural sector, enhance the literary scene, and support reading clubs. The session witnessed notable interaction by the attendees.
