The further adventures of Red Sonja
\"She lived in a savage world in an uncivilized age - a world ruled by men and governed by the sword. The[y] called her... Red Sonja - for her flame red hair, and for the smoldering fire of her pride, which gave her sword-arm a strength that few men could match, and none had ever defeated. This collection contains a variety of issues from the original Marvel Comics series 'The Savage Sword of Conan,' as well as Sonja Tales from 'Kull and the Barbarians,' with each page re-mastered for this volume. Also included is a gallery of pin-ups by Frank Thorne, Howard Chaykin, and more. These tales are where it all began, and set the stage for the current Red Sonja series from Dynamite Entertainment\"--back cover.
Working without a Net
A commentary states that one of the promises of this networked age is supposed to be that knowledge workers, folks who gather, organize, and redistribute bits of information, ought to be able to work pretty much anywhere. However, this work anywhere ideal does not seem to extend quite as far as a room at a discount hotel. Problems encountered in such an environment are discussed.

AOL's Java opportunity
According to a commentary, the most interesting Java-based Internet clients tend to be things like the trading desktop Charles Schwab gives its most active customers, which uses a Marimba Castanet client rather than a browser and boosts performance by more than 400% by bypassing the HTML-driven Web site. This browser Java equation may change as a result of the formation of the Sun-Netscape Alliance. One of the side deals was that AOL installation CDs would include Java 2. Sun also says Java 2 will get a boost when it becomes a standard part of Communicator 5.0. Putting Java 2 on all of those AOL 5.0 CDs might make more of a difference. Since AOL uses an embedded version of Internet Explorer, what those users are actually getting is the Java plug-in installed side by side with the Microsoft Java virtual machine.
