The Last CATFIGHT
VF-213's maintenance officer and Tomcat radar intercept officer (RIO) Lieutenant Commander Robb Soderholm gave Proceedings a breakdown of the type of missions flown by both F-14 units during the squadron's time in the Northern Arabian Gulf: \"We were flying between 14 and 18 sorties per day, with only three five-day port visits to Jebel Ali, in the United Arab Emirates, to break up this routine. At least a third of these flights were sixhour marathons up into Iraq.

Hurricane : Hawker's fighter legend
\"The remarkable Hawker Hurricane was the true workhorse of the Royal Air Force in World War II. Entering service 80 years ago, the Hurricane came into its own in the hot summer months of 1940, valiantly defending the skies above Britain and downing more enemy aircraft than any other RAF fighter. Without the obvious elegance of the Bf109 or the Spitfire, the Hurricane was nonetheless beloved by its pilots for its ability to simultaneously take a battering and inflict serous damage from its remarkably stable gun platform....Includes fascinating first-hand accounts from the men who flew it it...\"--Jacket.
Letter: Your Shout - After that previous game
Following the Talbot era downturn, I don't expect that much, and I had thought that Mowbray was a good appointment, but events are beginning to show that he's lost the plot. I recall Swindon being in the Premier for a season. They were for being 'entertaining' too, and went down having conceded hundreds of goals. We are going the same way.
Letter: Punish the criminals
Perhaps they'll get an ASBO for a couple of weeks, a free bus pass, and some shopping vouchers as an advance reward for good behaviour?
Letter: Shirt's a rip off
I've seen them play many times over many years and they never used to change when it wasn't needed. My first ever game was at the Arsenal, and we had the usual shirts against their red.
Letter: Tripe and twaddle from present-day Baggies twerps ; WEST BROMWICH ALBION
Perry is quoted as saying something about Derby not being good enough to stay up - well, if he 'd been a little better, he might have prevented the cross that led to their goal, so the question wouldn't have arisen; but that's a lot to ask of someone so immobile that several pigeons give his head as their home address. Oh, and the final straw. Robinson, again, a couple of times in the season, apparently saying we've got to be more 'professional'. How many needless bookings and send-offs came his way? I suggest not paying people if they get suspended for stupidity. How many goals were scored because he was caught out of position, or just gawping while a simple one-two was played round him? And he thinks he's a hard man too, which is just laughable. Mowbray and Venus built an over-achieving side at Hibs without spending billions. Let's hope they can do it again. Roy Keane got Sunderland up without buying 'superstars' so it can be done.
