In their interviews, candidates seldom address pedagogy where technology should be regarded as a tool to enhance writing, reading, speaking, listening, and the 4 Cs (communication, creativity, critical thinking and collaboration), but they usually miss the bigger definition of 21st century education as described by the Partnership for 21st Century Learning, or P21 (Framework for 21st Century Learning, 2016). [...]the P21 descriptors affirm the importance of the 4Cs in everyday pedagogy, while ensuring access to a whole curriculum, not just those areas tested in high stakes assessments, usually Language Arts and Math. The impact of the Career Preparedness Systems Framework has been significant, particularly when we examine student outcomes at institutions such as the University of California Irvine and California State University Fullerton, two institutions where many of our graduates enroll. Systemic Layers In Educating for Purposeful Life, a book I coauthored in 2023, I use the metaphor of threelevel chess to describe the layered complexities of education, resulting in a culture of relational trust and focus on shared vision.

Self-Awareness Training It dawned on me that students are coming to us increasingly traumatized, regardless of ethnicity or socioeconomic status, and our school systems, due to the lack of awareness, often disregard or exacerbate the trauma, which leads to further disconnection. anger, apathy, anxiety, depression and acting out It's a vicious evele for students, parents and staff as well.
