The redistribution of Mn atoms in Ga1-xMnxAs layer during medium-temperature annealing, 250-450 oC, by Mn K-edge X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) recorded at ALBA facility, was studied. For this purpose Ga1-xMnxAs thin layer with x=0.01 was grown on AlAs buffer layer deposited on GaAs(100) substrate by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) followed by annealing. The examined layer was detached from the substrate using a \"lift-off\" procedure in order to eliminate elastic scattering in XAFS spectra. Fourier transform analysis of experimentally obtained EXAFS spectra allowed to propose a model which describes a redistribution diffusion of Mn atoms in the host matrix. Theoretical XANES spectra, simulated using multiple scattering formalism (FEFF code) with the support of density functional theory (WIEN2k code), qualitatively describe the features observed in the experimental fine structure.

2008
The 12th International Workshop on Electromagnetic Nondestructive Evaluation (ENDE'07) was held from the 19th to the 21st of June 2007 at the Wolfson Centre for Magnetics at Cardiff University, Cardiff, United Kingdom. The aim of this annual workshop is to bring together engineers and scientists from universities, research institutions and industry to discuss and exchange the latest ideas and findings in basic research and development as well as industrial applications of electromagnetic nondestructive evaluation. This publication contains the proceedings of the workshop. In this book you will find a variety of topics on both theoretical and experimental aspects of nondestructive evaluation in eddy currents, magnetic measurements, magnetic flux leakage, Barkhausen methods, new methods and inverse problems for crack detection.

The discrete spectrum of the Hamiltonian describing a quantum particle living in three dimensional straight layer of width d in the presence of a constant electric field of strength F is studied. The Neumann boundary conditions are imposed on a finite set of bounded domains (windows) posed at one of the boundary planes and the Dirichlet boundary conditions on the remaining part of the boundary (it is a reduced problem for two identical coupled layers with symmetric electric field). It is proved that such system has eigenvalues below the lower bound of the essential spectrum for any F ≥ 0. Then we closer examine a dependence of bound state energies on F and window's parameters, using numerical methods.

Effect of low temperature plasma of atmospheric pressure on single-cell model organisms of ciliate Paramecium caudatum
2019
We studied low-temperature plasma effects on Paramecium caudatum using the original electric arc plasmatron. The decrease in the number of experimental cells has been shown, which may indicate membrane destructive pathology due to oxidative stress induced by the plasma impact. It is concluded that reactions at the population level of Paramecium caudatum are effective indices of primary information about plasma radiation cytotoxicity.

The STEG computer code for performing thermohydraulic calculations is used for a three-dimensional computational analysis of the distribution of the thermohydraulic parameters and the concentration of dissolved impurities in a PGV-1000 horizontal steam generator. The nominal operating regime is modeled. The distribution of the concentration of dissolved impurities is calculated on the basis of the results of a previous thermohydraulic calculation. The mathematical model of the STEG code also permits modeling the growth of deposits on the tube sheet. The calculations agree with experimental data obtained at the nuclear power plant. The STEG results show that taking account of the special features of the construction of this steam generator improves the agreement between the calculations and the experimental data. It is concluded that the STEG code can be used to model the distribution of the concentration of dissolved impurities in steam generators with a new construction, specifically, in the PGV-1000 steam generator with a corridor bundle.[PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]

2002
The purpose of this work was to make a computational analysis using the VAPEX thermohydraulic code, developed at the Experimental Scientific-Research Center at the All-Russia Scientific-Research Institute of Nuclear Power Plants, of the L-33 experiment performed on the FARO setup to study the interaction of core melt with water. The calculation of the stage of mixing of the melt stream with water and subsequent cooling satisfactorily predicted experimental parameters such as the temperature of the water and gas in the vessel. The calculation of the formation and propagation of the thermodetonation wave agrees well with the experimental data. Analysis of the experiment showed that the VAPEX code can predict adequately the most important characteristics of melt-coolant interaction during a serious accident at a nuclear power plant in accordance with the out-of-vessel scenario of the development of the accident.

Risk of Sump Plugging – Experimental Program
2004
Assessment of the operational characteristics of the filtration function used during the recirculation phase of safety injection system (ECCS) and containment spray system (CSS) in the event of a break of the primary system in the containment has been performed by the “Institut de radioprotection et de sûreté nucléaire” [1] for the French pressurised reactors (58 reactors) in particular the CPY series, 900 MWe pressurised water reactors (30 reactors) designed according Regulatory Guide 1.82 (Rev. 1). To estimate the risk involved, the following points were studied: ...
