Media and the Socio-Cultural Aspects of Society
This research paper attempts to reach some of the prevailing social and cultural characteristics of American society through the sociological analysis of some scenes of the episodes of the American cartoon series The Simpsons. This is because this series is one of the most popular animated series inside and outside the United States of America. It targets children and adults alike, and it became famous because it is one of the longest soap operas that depict the daily life of the American family of the middle class. Among the most important findings of the research paper is that American society as a consumer society rather than a product, and the American society does not care about some important environmental issues, as capitalism reigns in society, and there is a large gap between the middle class and the rich class, in addition to highlighting the excessive use of technology.

The Effectiveness of Using Cartoon Films in Enhancing Primary School Pupils' EFL Writing Skills
The current study investigated the effectiveness of using cartoon films in developing primary school pupils' EFLwriting skills. The participants of the study comprised 60 pupils .They were drawn randomly from fourth year pupils enrolled in the primary stage, at Qombainyat primary school for boys and girls, EL Sadat Educational Directorate, Menouifa governorate ,during the first semester of the academic year 2020 2021. The participants were divided into two groups: experimental and control, 30 pupils each. After pre-testing, The experimental group received writing skills through cartoon films while the control group received regular instruction. Data were treated statistically. The results revealed that using cartoon films is effective in primary stage pupils' EFLwriting skills. Hence, the results seemed to provide adequate evidence to support the hypotheses. The change that occurred in the writing skills performance of the experimental group was higher than that of control group. Thus, it is recommended that the use of cartoon films be used in teaching writing skills to primary school pupils.

من منطلق وجهة نظر خاصة، أميل إلى القول بأنه يمكن اعتبار الأنمي فنا تميزت به الثقافة اليابانية الحديثة، وقبل الدخول في تفاصيل الملامح التي شكلت عالم الأنمي ومنحته صفة الفنية وبصبغة الثقافة، يجدر بنا أن نعقد اتفاقا مبدئياً على الأقل بأن الأنمي مهما كانت صفته، فإنه قد منح الثقافة اليابانية الحديثة، نقطة إضافية للبروز، ونقل للجيل العالمي الشاب شيئا عن الثقافة اليابانية التقليدية والتاريخية، حيث يكفي أن ينطق أحدهم في هذه الأيام لفظة الأنمي، حتى يتبادر إلى الذهن شلال هادر من الرؤى عن اليابان، الدولة والتاريخ والحضارة، الساموراي والنينجا والبوشيدو، الكامي والشينقامي والأوني، الإمبراطور وشيفا والتنانين، الكيمونو والكابوكي والنو وطقوس السيبوكو وقصائد الهايكو وحروف الكانجي.

A Multimodal Discourse Analysis of American Animated Feature Film \The Wizard of Oz\ and Japanese Anime \Spirited Away\
The present paper attempts to examine the contribution of MD (Multimodal Discourse Analysis) of Walt Disney's The Wizard of Oz (1939) and Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away (2001). The investigation of the content is done using Kress and van Leeuwen's multimodality model (2006). As illustrated in Reading Images: The Grammar of Visual Design (2006), this paper intends to discuss the visual design grammar which decodes the different patterns of representation, patterns of interaction, how experience can be visually decoded, and all that contributes to the meaning of visual texts as well as moving images. Within this rationale, the present study explores the paradigm of Multimodal Discourse Analysis to interrogate how moving pictures draw on modes of communication such as camera attitude, posture, contact, distance, colors, facial expressions and gestures in combination with words to make meaning. Thereby, Multimodality is employed to show how fictional characters communicate and interact with each other not just through writing but also through speaking, gesture, gaze, and visual form
