Studying the Effect of Dark Coffee and its Extract on Protection from Hyperlipidemia in Rats
Coffee contains more than 800 compounds known to have an impact on human health. The purpose of this study is to investigate how ground dark or green coffee or extracted coffee bean affects the serum lipid profile and other related parameters. Sixty eight Sprague Dawely rats were divided into 8 groups (n=8) as follows: Group 1: Negative control group (NC) was fed on basal diet during the experimental period. Group 2: Positive control group (PC), rats were fed on hypercholesterolemic diet solely. Group 3: Rats were fed on hypercholesterolemic diet containing 5% ground dark coffee beans. Group 4: Rats were fed on hypercholesterolemic diet containing 10% ground dark coffee beans. Group 5: Rats were fed on hypercholesterolemic diet with lower oral standard dose of dark coffee extracted beans (50 ml/ kg diet). Group 6: Rats were fed on hypercholesterolemic diet with the higher oral standard dose of dark coffee extracted beans (100 ml/ kg diet). Group 7: Rats were fed on hypercholesterolemic diet containing 5% ground green coffee beans. Group 8: Rats were fed on hypercholesterolemic diet containing 10% ground green coffee beans. It can be noticed that both dark or green ground coffee and extracts improved lipid profile, where decreased the total cholesterol, LDL-C, VLDL-C and triacylglycerol, however, increased HDL-C when compared to positive control group. Also they lowered the concentration of both uric acid and urea compared to positive control group. These findings indicated to the effect of consumption of coffee to improve lipid profile. To highlight our findings related to other research work we may find that the most research papers reported different doses of dark and green coffee or their extracts, different experimental animals and different sample size. Further studies are needed to include clinical trials.
Effect of Some Levels From Nigella Sativa as Seeds or Water Extract on Rats Suffering From Hyperlipidemia and Diabetes
Objective: the main target of this study was to investigate the effect of diets supplemented with three levels from nigella sativa seeds 2.5 - 5 and 10% or water extract of nigella sativa seeds drinking water 2.5 % 5% and 10% W-V on serum glucose lipid profile kidney functions and liver enzymes in addition to nutrition evaluation of rats suffering from hyperlipidemia and diabetes. Material & Methods: The experiment was carried out using 48 male albino rats (Sprague Dawley strain) weighting 130 ± 5 g. The rats were divided into two main groups. The first main group (n = 6) fed on basal diet as negative control. The second main group (n = 42) fed on hyperlipidemic diet for 6 week to induce hyperlipidemia, after this period, the second main group injected with (150 mg aloxane / kg body weight) to induce hyperglycemia. The rats in the second main group were randomly divided into seven subgroups as a following: Subgroup (1) fed on hyperlipidemic diet as a positive control group. Subgroups (2, 3 and 4) fed on hyperlipidemic diet containing 2.5%, 5% and 10% Nigella sativa seeds, respectively. Subgroups (5, 6 and 7) fed on hyperlipidemic diet and treated daily with extract of Nigella sativa seeds in drinking water (2.5%, 5% and 10% W/V), respectively. All groups were kept feeding on experimental diets for 28 days. Results: The results indicated that, hyperlipidemia and hyperglycemia increased serum glucose, kidney functions, liver enzymes and lipid profile, significantly, except HDL-c., as compared to healthy rats. Treating rats which were suffering from hyperlipidemia and hyperglycemia with different levels from Nigella sativa seeds or water extract prepared from different levels from Nigella sativa led to a general improvement in health of rats, especially when used high level from seeds or water extract. Conclusion: It was finally concluded that, treated rats which suffer from hyperlipidemia and hyperglycemia with Nigella sativa seeds or water extract prepared from Nigella sativa seeds, especially when used high levels from seeds or extraction, could be implemented in the treatment of hyperlipidemic subjects suffering from diabetes.
تأثير تدريبات الوسط المائي على بعض المتغيرات البيولوجية والكفاءة البدنية لدى السيدات المصابات بارتفاع دهون الدم
لقد ازداد الوعي وانتشر الاعتقاد بفوائد تدريبات الوسط المائي فهي الآن واحدة من أحدث الطرق حيث تعمل تمرينات الوسط المائي كطب وقائي وعلاج طبيعي في مواجهة العديد من علاج حالات الإصابة أو التأهيل بعد الإصابة أو الجراحة أو اللياقة العامة للصحة وإنقاص الوزن والرشاقة والارتقاء بمستوى اللياقة البدنية. nوترى الباحثة أنه على الرغم من أهمية ممارسة الرياضة لجميع الأعمار فإن ممارسة الرياضة بالنسبة لكبار السن تأخذ أهمية خاصة وتصبح ضرورة يجب الحرص عليها من أجل حياة أفضل لكبار السن فمن أهم المشكلات التي يعاني منها كبار السن فقدان قدرتهم على الاعتماد على النفس نتيجة ضعف الجهاز الحركي لديهم نتيجة كبر السن وبممارسة التمارين الرياضية بانتظام والحصول على درجة مناسبة من اللياقة البدنية يستطيع كبار السن تلبية متطلبات حياتهم اليومية دون الحاجة إلى مساعدة أحد ومن خلال ما اطلعت عليه الباحثة من الدراسات والتي إشارات إلى أهمية استخدام تدريبات الوسط المائي في تحسين الكفاءة البدنية لدى كبار السن، ولقد أصبح زيادة الوزن (كولسترول الدم) من الإمراض الشائعة خاصتاً لدى السيدات كبار السن قامت الباحثة بهذه الدراسة للتعرف على تأثير تدريبات الوسط المائي على بعض المتغيرات البيولوجية والكفاءة البدنية لدى السيدات المصابات بارتفاع دهون الدم في محاولة منها قد تؤدي إلى تحسن الكفاءة البدنية من خلال تلك التمرينات داخل الوسط المائي. nيهدف البحث إلى التعرف على تأثير تدريبات الوسط المائي على بعض المتغيرات البيولوجية والكفاءة البدنية لدى السيدات المصابات بارتفاع دهون الدم واستخدمت الباحثة المنهج التجريبي باستخدام التصميم التجريبي على مجموعتين أحدهما تجريبية والأخرى ضابطة وبلغت حجم عينة البحث (12) أفراد تم اختيارهم بالطريقة العمدية من المريضات المصابات بارتفاع نسبة الدهون بالدم بنادي طلائع الجيش (الاجتماعي - الرياضي) أعمار من (50-60) سنة وكانت من أهم النتائج تؤدي استخدام العقاقير الطبية إلى تحسن في تركيز دهون الدم ومعدل نبض القلب وضغط الدم الانقباضي والانبساطي.
