Using a Program Based on Gricean Maxims Theory for Enhancing EFL Student Teachers' Conversational Skills
This study aimed at investigating the effect of using Gricean maxims theory program for enhancing EFL student-teachers' conversational skills. Sixty EFL student-teachers from Faculty of Education, Minia University were selected as participants of the study. The study adopted the quasi-experimental design as the sixty participants were divided into two groups, each of thirty participants. The treatment group was taught using Gricean maxims theory program while the non-treatment group was taught following the conventional instruction. The instruments of the study included a conversational skills test (pre &post), and a rubric for scoring conversational skills test. Analysis of the results revealed that the treatment group participants achieved a significantly higher level in their EFL conversational skills than those of the non-treatment group. In the light of these results, it was concluded that Gricean maxims theory program was effective in enhancing the EFL student-teachers' conversational skills.
Efficacité des Activités Langagières Basées sur la Théorie Socioconstructiviste pour Développer les Compétences de la Communication Orale en Français Chez les Étudiants-Maitres
تناول هذا البحث استخدام أنشطة لغوية قائمة على النظرية البنائية الاجتماعية في تنمية مهارات التواصل الشفهي حتى يتمكن الطلاب من فهم ما يسمعون وان يتحدثون اللغة بطريقة سليمة. من خلال خبرة الباحثة الشخصية وإعطاء سكاشن لطلاب الكلية والأشراف على مجموعات التربية العملية في المدارس تبين وجود ضعف في بعض مهارات التواصل الشفهي لدي الطلاب والتي تتمثل في: عدم قدرة الطلاب على التعبير عما يدور بداخلهم باللغة الفرنسية والإنجليزية، عدم التواصل باللغة الفرنسية سواء في التربية العملية أو في التدريس المصغر. ويقصد بأنشطة لغوية قائمة على النظرية البنائية الاجتماعية، أنها مجموعة من التمارين المنظمة والمخطط لها بواسطة المعلم وفقا للنظرية البنائية الاجتماعية مقدمة للطلاب لاكتساب بعض مهارات التواصل الشفهي (الاستماع، التحدث)، ولضبط جميع المتغيرات تم رصد وتقييم نتائج الطلاب في الاختبار القبلي والبدي، وذلك من خلال تحليل وتفسير البيانات والنتائج بطريقة كمية وكيفية، واتبعت الباحثة في ذلك المنهج شبه التجريبي.
درجة شيوع الاتصال الشفوي وغير الشفوي بين لاعبي كرة القدم في الدوري الفلسطيني للمحترفين
هدفت الدراسة التعرف إلى درجة شيوع أشكال الاتصال الشفوي وغير الشفوي عند لاعبي كرة القدم في الدوري الفلسطيني للمحترفين، ودرجة الاتصال في مواقف اللعب المختلفة، وتكونت عينة الدراسة من (١٨٧ ) لاعبا محترفا في الموسم الكروي2011 /٢٠١2،واستخدام الباحث المنهج الوصفي من خلال وصف نتائج استجابات اللاعبين على الاستبانة وتحليلها، حيث أظهرت نتائج الدراسة ان درجة شيوع مهارات الاتصال الشفوي كبيرة (78.4%) بينما كانت درجة شيوع مهارات الاتصال غير الشفوي متوسطة(68.2%)، وقد كانت درجة الاتصال بين اللاعبين كبيرة جدا ) ٨٦ (% في مواقف اللعب المختلفة، كما أظهرت الدراسة وجود فروق دالة إحصائيا في الاتصال الشفوي بين لاعبي الاحتراف الكلي والجزئي ولصالح الكلي، ويوصي الباحث بضرورة التركيز من قبل المدربين على الاتصال غير الشفوي )الإشارات ولغة الجسم( من خلال إدراجها في خطط التدريب باعتبارها من العوامل المهمة في الانجاز الرياضي.
Using Drama Activities to Foster Primary Students' Oral Communication Skills
This study aims at investigating the impact of using drama activities on developing primary students' oral communication skills. It attempts to provide answers to the following main question: \"What is the impact of using drama activities on developing primary students' oral communication skills?\" A group of 50 primary stage students were selected from one of Cairo language schools. The quasi-experimental design (the non-equivalent group design) was employed where two intact classes were randomly selected to represent both groups. The experimental group received training through drama activities. The control group received regular instruction. A pre/post oral communication test was given to both groups before and after the treatment. The results of the t-tests proved to be statistically consistent with the hypotheses. They revealed that the experimental group outperformed the control group in the oral communication skills. Implementing drama activities changed the classroom from a place where oral communication was taught to one where opportunities to think broadly and flexibly away from the constraints of the classroom were provided, and raised students\" confidence.
The Social Impact on the Use of Language in Selected Novels by William Golding
In recent years, a large number of books and articles on William Golding have been published, in which various aspects of his works and the stories told in them are analyzed. Many of these studies focus on extra literary aspects, or delve into only some elements of the plots of this author's novels, the issues that are treated, or their social impact. These studies can be of great interest and add a relevant perspective to understanding the novels of William Golding. However, to have a global vision of the work of this author, it is necessary to analyze the most literary aspects of Golding's writings in detail. In this research, we will study how William Golding used language, some of the most frequent resources, and the strategies he employed to provoke different effects on readers through the choice of certain words and syntactic structures.
First Year EFL Students' Perceptions toward the Use of Artificial Intelligence to Enhance Oral Communication Skills
There was a tremendous widespread of the English language in different domains that underline its considerable importance as an international language. EFL teachers integrate artificial intelligence in language classrooms to enable them to practice the language in a relaxed learning environment considering the significance of oral communication skills to English learners. This paper aims to determine the impact of artificial intelligence-powered tools in enhancing oral communication skills. The study investigates English students' perceptions and opinions about the significance of artificial intelligence's integration to improve their oral communication skills. The research chooses the population randomly from first-year English students at the Ecole Normal Superieur 'Assia Djebar', Constantine, Algeria, for the academic year 2023_2024. A semi-structured questionnaire is administered to forty students to give their opinions about the role of artificial intelligence in improving oral communication skills. Results of the research have concluded that artificial intelligence is significant in enhancing learners' oral communication skills and overcoming the possible challenges they face.
Factors Affecting the Choice of Oral Communication Strategies
Target language proficiency, gender, motivation, learners' attitude and communication contexts are among the variables influencing choice of Communication Strategies (CSs) which have been presented thus far. Discussing the correlation between these variables and choice of CSs can elucidate for teachers the particularities of Libyan language learners in the contexts of certain communication tasks. Hence, the current study investigated the impact of teaching oral communication strategies and the factors influencing their use in Libya. A semi-structured interview was conducted to obtain the data needed. The findings revealed that not only learners had gained general confidence by their instruction in the use of CSs, but also the teaching of these strategies was feasible and effective.
A Computer-Based ESP Program to Develop Police College Students' Oral Communication Skills
This study aims to design a computer-based English for Specific Purposes (ESP) program to develop oral communication skills among Police College students. The author argues that these students urgently need to master specialized linguistic skills aligned with the demands of their security-related work, particularly in international interactions and when dealing with legal texts and field reports in English. The instructional program was built on a needs analysis of students' linguistic requirements, focusing on realistic simulation activities such as police dialogues, interrogation scenarios, report presentations, and instruction delivery. The program was designed to be interactive, incorporating multimedia elements including video clips, audio exercises, and simulation software, with immediate assessment activities to monitor progress. A quasi-experimental design was employed, dividing students into an experimental group taught through the computer-based program and a control group taught using traditional methods. Findings revealed that the experimental group achieved significant improvements in fluency, pronunciation, and specialized vocabulary use, along with increased confidence in oral communication. Results also highlighted the role of technology in making the learning process more authentic and engaging, positively influencing students' motivation. The study concludes that computer-based programs represent an effective approach for teaching ESP, recommending their broader adoption in police and military education institutions, with flexible content tailored to diverse professional requirements. فعالية أنماط الاتصال التنظيمي وعلاقته بأداء العمال بالمؤسسة الصناعية: دراسة ميدانية مؤسسة سونا طراك حوض بركاوي بولاية ورقلة نموذجا
يبني الاتصال التنظيمي على أسلوب العمل في المنظمة مما يجعله مميزا وفعالا فأداء العاملين يتأثر بطريقة أو بأخرى بعدة عوامل من داخل وخارج المنظمة، وبالتالي فللاتصال دورا مهما في التأثير على سلوك العاملين طبقا لطبيعة وقوة وسيلة الاتصال التي تتمتع بها المنظمة، إذ تساهم في خلق مناخ ملائم يعمل على تحسين الأداء بشكل فعال، مما يساعد على تحقيق الأهداف الفردية والجماعية والتنظيمية، وهذا من خلال تجسيد المعايير الحديثة التي تعمل على تنمية وتطوير الأداء.
أثر الاتصال الداخلي على الميزة التنافسية بالمنظمات السياحية
تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى قياس تأثير تطبيق مفهوم الاتصال الداخلي على الميزة التنافسية بالمنظمات السياحية الجزائرية، عينة الدراسة تمثلت في المسيرين ورؤساء الأقسام بمجوعة فنادق لولاية Béjaia، تم استخدام الاستبيان كطريقة لجمع البيانات الأولية بتوزيع ما مجموعه 40 استبانة استرجع منها 32 استبانة، تم تحليل النتائج باستخدام البرنامج الإحصائي SPSS V26. توصلنا إلى نتيجة مفادها أن هناك أثر إيجابي لتطبيق مفهوم الاتصال الداخلي على الميزة التنافسية بالمنظمات السياحية عينة الدراسة، فالاتصال الداخلي يؤثر على كل من التكلفة، الجودة، التميز لكن لا يوجد له تأثير على بعد المرونة بالمنظمات السياحية عينة الدراسة.
