كتاب \"التوزيع اللغوي الجغرافي في العراق\" هو مجموعة محاضرات ألقاها الدكتور إبراهيم السامراني على طلبة قسم البحوث والدراسات الأدبية واللغوية في مهد البحوث والدراسات العربية، التابع لجامعة الدول العربية. وقد ركز فيها على التوزيع اللغوي الجغرافي في العراق، وعلى الأصول التاريخية لهذا التوزيع، وتناول اللهجات المحلية من بدوية وقروية وحضرية، مستعينا بالخرائط لتحديد المعالم والحدود. هذا ولم يغفل العوامل التاريخية فتناول سكان العراق بدءا من سومر مرورا بالبابليين والآشوريين والآراميين وصولا إلى العرب. وتناول أيضا مجموعة من الألفاظ الموصلية والبغدادية وطائفة من ألفاظ سكان الأهوار، ولم يغفل التركمانية والكردية وهو في كل ذلك عرج على مسائل الصرف والنحو والصوتيات والمعاني والمعجمية واللسانيات عموم، بحيث يشكل كتابه ثروة لغوية بعامة ومعجمية بخاصة.

Investigating Contrastive Grammar Problems Iraqi EFL Learners Face in English-Arabic Translation
English and Arabic have many similarities and differences related to grammar. Consequently, the current paper is designed to investigate the grammatical problems that Iraqi EFL learners suffer from through the process of translation from English to Arabic. It draws upon contrastive analysis (CA) to help in solving the problems encountered Iraqi EFL morning and evening learners. This study tries to answer the following questions: what are the contrastive grammatical problems that Iraqi EFL learners face in English-Arabic translation do Iraqi EFL learners commit the grammatical problems which are related to interlingual errors or intralingual ones What are the solutions provided for such problems The study aims at examining the contrastive grammatical difficulties and problems that Iraqi EFL learners encounter in English-Arabic translation; presenting a test for identifying the grammatical problems in English-Arabic translation; providing solutions for such problems. It employs a translation test that consists of 20 items for testing one hundred EFL learners of English department for morning studies and another hundred for evening studies, college of Education, University of Thi-Qar for the academic year 2022-2023. The test is analyzed and discussed related to whether the translation is grammatical or not. After implementing and discussing test results, the study concluded that hypothesis (1) is verified that the errors students committed are classified as being interlingual or intralingual; hypothesis (2) also verified that here are some aspects in English have no equivalents in Arabic; hypothesis (3) is refuted since tenses and the emphatic do take the highest number of errors that EFL learners (morning and evening participants) commit in English-Arabic translations; hypothesis (4) is partially accepted is partially accepted because of the other simple problems in Arabic English translation. It is concluded that the majority of Iraqi EFL learners face difficulty in the tenses, emphatic do, word order, and sentence connectors in English Arabic translation and both morning and evening students do not suffer from big problems in translating the gerund, Od and Oi, conditional sentences, negation, adjectives, medal auxiliaries, prepositions, and articles in English-Arabic translation.

لهجات أعالي الفرات بين عامية القبائل العربية وتأثير اللغات السامية
لقد بات الاهتمام بدراسة اللهجات من أولويات علم اللغة الحديث، لما يقدمه هذا المجال من إسهامات كبيرة في فهم طبيعة اللغة وتتبع مراحلها التاريخية وبيان مدى تأثير البيئة والزمن في أصواتها وصرفها وبناء الجملة فيها، وما يعكسه ذلك على المستوى الدلالي، فيسلط هذا البحث الضوء على اللهجات العربية في منطقة أعالي الفرات. التي كانت عرضة لتغيرات جيوسياسية فرضت عليها أن تكون محطة لكثير من الأمم متعددة الثقافات واللغات. أثرت وتأثرت بلغات وثقافات سكانها الأصليين، فكان من الضرورة البحث والاستقصاء حول تلك المتغيرات التي تلعب دورا في الوقوف على تأريخ اللهجات وأصالتها السائدة في هذه المنطقة قيد الدراسة، فاستعرض البحث الطبيعة الجغرافية للمنطقة ودورها في اختلاف اللهجات من قبيلة إلى أخرى، وكذلك تم استعراض الأقوام الأجنبية التي استوطنتها وتركت رواسب لغوية على عربية هذا الجزء من الأرض بشكل مختصر، ومما لا شك فيه كان التأثير متبادلا، كما يكشف البحث عن الكثير من الألفاظ والسمات اللغوية الأصلية في اللغة العربية حولتها محاولات سرعة إيصال الفكرة والتسهيل إلى تغيير في شكل اللفظ صوتيا وصرفيا، ومن الجدير بالذكر إن من تلك الأمم الساميين التي تشترك لغاتهم بالعربية بالكثير من السمات اللغوية الناشئة من وحدة المصدر، وهو ما ركز عليه البحث في أغلب جوانبه.

الإنصاف في مسائل الخلاف بين النحويين البصريين والكوفيين
هذا الكتاب يبحث في علم النحو العربي ويعرض هذا الكتاب كما يستدل من اسمه للمسائل الخلافية بين علماء النحو من البصريين والكوفيين وعددها فيه مائة وعشرون مسألة واعتمد الأنباري في كتابه منهجا واحدا يقوم على البدء بعرض خلاصة ما يذهب إليه كل من الفريقين في المسألة ثم يفصل آراء كل منهما مع الرد على آراء المدرسة التي لا يتبنى رأيها وهذه طبعة عليها هوامش في تخريج الأبيات الواردة وشرحها وإعرابها وبيان الشاهد فيها مع مقارنات ببعض الكتب الأخرى وفي آخرها فهارس علمية للكتاب.

Teachers ' Attitudes towards the Use of Arabic \L1\ in Primary EFL Classrooms in Iraq
Having recourse to learners' mother tongue in foreign language (FL) classes has been a controversial topic in the field of teaching English as a foreign language for a long time. There has been a great deal of claims and counterclaims that revolve around the pedagogical appropriateness of teacher usage of learners\" mother tongue in foreign language teaching. Recently, the findings of English as a foreign language (EFL) research cast doubt on the rationales of proponents of exclusive use of FL in EFL setting; and researchers come up with the reality that a rational use of first language (L1) is not only inevitable but also profitable in classrooms where teachers and learners share the same L1. Dearth of knowledge on the pedagogical reality of this issue in Iraqi EFL contexts is worth exploring. This study aimed at highlighting English language teachers\" attitudes towards using the learners' mother tongue (Arabic) in the EFL classrooms, seeking their viewpoints on the purposes for which Arabic could be used in English classes, and exploring their reasons for using it. For this end, the study was conducted on 50 EFL teachers teaching at public primary schools in Baghdad, using a questionnaire survey developed to fulfill the aim of the study. Findings of the obtained data demonstrate that teachers\" overall attitudes towards occasional use of Arabic in EFL classrooms were positive; and they reported using Arabic for both teaching and classroom management purposes. Analysis of the data also indicates that all of the participants were inclined to switch to Arabic in their EFL classrooms for a number of reasons necessary to create a more comprehensible, motivational, relaxing, friendly, and supportive classroom environment for young learners and to save time and effort in overcrowded classes.
