The Effectiveness of Project-Based Learning on Improving the Undergraduate Students' Speaking Skills through M-Learning
This case study aimed to identify the lessons learned from using m-Learning in project-based learning as a potential to improve the oral skills of EFL students in a Language Use Course at a Palestinian university during the second semester of the academic year 2019/2020. Despite the sudden closure of universities due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, teachers had to evaluate students' oral proficiency in effective use of vocabulary and expressions found in the course, improvising daily life situations, with decent fluency and enjoyment. The participants were 97 (19 males and 78 females) EFL learners majoring English, who were enrolled in the Language Use course. The participants were assigned a project-based task to develop their speaking skill through collaborative projects that were submitted at the end of the course to evaluate their skills and performances. To achieve this objective, a project-based cycle (OMEGA-P) was developed, and semi-structured interviews via Messenger and WhatsApp were also administered with students. Findings showed impressive signs of creative outputs manifested in various skills. The findings also highlighted the effectiveness of using project-based experience as an approach to online 'Discussion Sessions' that provided a flexible and enjoyable learning environment, that enhanced students' self-confidence through active involvement with real communicative situations with other students as well as with the teacher.
The Impact of Digital Formative Assessment on Improving Primary-Stage Pupils' Oral Skills
The current study aims at investigating the impact of digital formative assessment on improving primary-stage pupils' oral skills. Quasi-experimental research design with two groups; experimental and control, has been exploited in this study. The total sample of the study consists of 50 primary school pupils from five national departments at Smart City Language School in Hurghada City, Red Sea governorate: 25 pupils in the experimental and 25 pupils in the control group. The study used digital formative assessment tools; Animoto, Socrative Teacher, and quizzes. The findings of the study revealed the effectiveness of using digital formative assessment tools in improving primary-stage pupils' oral skills. There are statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental and control groups in the posttesing of oral skills in favor of the experimental group. Therefore, it is recommended - based on the study results - that digital formative assessment tools and applications should be used to assess the four language skills.
Valutazione e Autovalutazione della Competenza Comunicativa
Notre contribution vise à mettre en lumière la différence entre l'évaluation de la compétence communicative par les enseignants et l'auto évaluation de cette compétence effectuée par l'apprenant. Elle souligne également l'importance de l'éducation à l'auto-évaluation dès les premiers moments de la pratique de l'enseignement et de l'apprentissage afin de mesurer les progrès de l'apprentissage et d'encourager l'autonomie. L'objectif de cette recherche est de vérifier l'autonomie, la conscience et la responsabilité des étudiants de deuxième année en licence à l'Université Blida 2 dans leur processus d'apprentissage. Afin d'être cohérents dans notre étude, nous avons d'abord défini des concepts clés tels que la compétence communicative, l'évaluation et l'auto-évaluation, puis nous avons décrit les instruments utilisés dans la recherche tout en analysant simultanément les données obtenues de l'enquête. Enfin, nous avons comparé les résultats de l'évaluation avec ceux de l'autoévaluation afin de répondre aux questions initiales.
A Proposed Program Based on the Intercultural Approach to Develop Oral Expression Skills and Egyptian Cultural Identity among French Student Teachers
The current research aims to identify the effectiveness of using the intercultural approach to develop oral expression skills and Egyptian cultural identity among French student teachers at the Faculty of Women, Ain Shams University. The researcher prepared research tools: a list of oral expression skills, a list of dimensions of Egyptian cultural identity, a pre-post test of oral expression, and a pre-post test on Egyptian cultural of identity. Additionally, the program based on the intercultural approach to develop some oral expression skills and cultural identity among French student teachers and its appendices that were presented to the jury members to make necessary adjustments. The researcher also conducted the experiment and analyzed the results which demonstrated the effectiveness of the intercultural approach to develop some oral expression skills and Egyptian cultural identity among the research sample. These results also proved the validity of the hypotheses and the effectiveness of the program based on of the intercultural approach to develop oral expression skills and Egyptian cultural identity among French student teachers. One of the most important suggestions of the current research is preparing study programs based on the intercultural .approach in various fields because of its positive impact.
Einsatz des Leseverstehens zur Entwicklung der Mündlichen Ausdrucksfertigkeiten bei Studierenden der Deutschabteilung der Pädagogischen Fakultät der Sadat City Universität
Einsatz des Leseverstehens zur Entwicklung der mündlichen Ausdrucksfertigkeiten bei Studierenden der Deutschabteilung der Pädagogischen Fakultät der Sadat City Universität. Das Problem der Forschung besteht darin, dass die Studierenden in der deutschen Sprachabteilung nicht fähig sind, Themen, Ideen und Informationen in ihrem Studium mündlich auszudrücken. Deshalb setzt sich die vorliegende Arbeit zum Ziel, einen Beitrag zur Entwicklung der mündlichen Ausdrucksfertigkeiten bei den Studierenden der Deutschabteilung der Pädagogischen Fakultät der Sadat City Universität. Das wurde durch den Einsatz von Leseverstehen. Die Testgruppe besteht aus 12 Studierenden auf Niveaustufe B1 an der Pädagogischen Fakultät der Sadat City Universität im zweiten Semester des Jahres 2022/ 2023. Die Studierenden haben am Vor- und Nachtest teilgenommen. Aus der Statistischen Auswertung der vorliegenden Arbeit geht hervor, dass die mündlichen Ausdrucksfertigkeiten bei den Studierenden entwickelt worden sind. Das weist daraufhin, dass der Einsatz des Leseverstehens einen großen Einfluss auf die Entwicklung des mündlichen Ausdrucks bei den Studierenden des dritten Studienjahres an der Pädagogischen Fakulität der Sadat City Universität hat.
Programme D'enrichissement Basé sur Quelques Applications de L'intelligence Artificielle \IA\ Pour Développer Quelques Compétences Orales Auprès des Futurs Enseignants Aux Facultés de Pédagogie
Bien que les didacticiens et les spécialistes des nouvelles démarches de FLE appellent à diversifier les outils pédagogiques utilisés afin de dynamiser les séances et de rendre les contenus plus accessibles aux étudiants, on se contentent des méthodes traditionnelles privant ainsi les apprenants de l'apport d'une telle diversification, bien que se libérer de ces méthodes traditionnelles met en exergue l'autonomie de l'enseignant, sa conscience du niveau de ses apprenants et sa volonté de l'améliorer. Dans la recherche actuelle, le chercheur adopte une approche moderne de l'enseignement des langues étrangères en utilisant quelques applications de l'intelligence artificielle comme innovation technologique- qui a prouvé sa supériorité dans de nombreux secteurs- pour développer quelques compétences orales auprès des étudiants de la 4 ème année à la faculté de pédagogie. Pour arriver à son but, le chercheur a préparé deux grilles des compétences nécessaires concernant la compréhension et l'expression orale, deux tests de compréhension/expression orale en vue de déterminer le niveau du groupe de la recherche concernant les deux compétences, et également un programme d'enrichissement basé sur quelques applications de l'intelligence artificielle pour développer les compétences déjà citées. Le chercheur a suivi la méthode expérimentale avec un design quasi-expérimental avec un seul groupe d'étudiants. D'après la discussion et l'interprétation des résultats, le chercheur a constaté qu'il existe une différence statiquement significative entre les moyennes des notes du groupe de la recherche dans le pré/post test des compétences orales en faveur de la post application, ce qui indique l'efficacité du programme d'enrichissement pour développer les compétences orales.
Towards Using Slides Projector to develop Foreign Language Learners' Oral Skills
In the field of instruction, the integration of technologies is considered as a conceptual revolution and an innovative practical tool in foreign language classroom. Yet, in language classrooms, it appears piecemeal, that is, gradual and fragmentary, and sometimes even totally absent. Regarding the educational system in Algeria, different methods and techniques are already adopted to pave the way towards improving the teaching/learning process particularly assisting the EFL learners to master the target language not only in writing but also n speaking. Towards this inevitable evolution in the Algerian higher educational system, this paper attempts to explore into the main difficulties our EFL learners encounter and thus, find out the alternative techniques to develop their oral skills using audio-visual aids such as slides projectors.
