The Role of the University in Modern Society
It is well known that the university has three basic functions: education or training, scientific research and community service. But the social changes the world has known have changed the role of the university. This research paper aims to scrutinize the most important roles that the university has become exercising in modern society. In addition to education, scientific research and community service, they appear in: Achieving Economic and Social Prosperity, protection from social ill, social change.
Strategy for the Training of Newly Hired Teachers in Higher Education Institutions
The pedagogical support for newly hired researchers in higher education institutions is one of the most important strategies for achieving development and progress. Its significance lies not only in improving job performance and acquiring a set of advanced knowledge and skills in teaching and scientific research but also in making new professors more adaptable to change and development. Therefore, in this article, we will attempt to present a theoretical analytical study on the strategy for training newly hired professors in higher education institutions.
The Effect of Instructors at Higher Education Institutions and the University Environments on Students' Adaptation to the Field of Physical Education and Sports
The purpose of this study is to ascertain how students' adjustment to the realm of sport and physical education is influenced by the university setting and the instructors at the teachers' higher college. We employed the descriptive method in this process, using a sample of fifty pupils. Results indicate that a well-equipped university setting and appropriate infrastructure have a positive impact on students' ability to adapt. Additionally, enhancing interaction during sessions is greatly influenced by the teachers' relationship with the students as well as their academic and psychological support. To enhance the educational process, the study suggests expanding resources and strengthening the bond between students and teachers.
Teaching ESP at the Institute of Nutrition, Food and Agro-Food Technologies \INATAA\, University Mentouri Constantine 1 from Theory to Practice
The Algerian Ministry of higher education and scientific research is increasingly encouraging the application of English exclusively in a tertiary education. This call upon a prompt reconsideration of the teaching of ESP in the different scientific disciplines. It is noteworthy that there is no agreed-upon syllabi from higher authorities for the teaching of ESP. Similarly, most ESP teachers are teachers of English and are not specialized in the students' field, so the syllabus they adopt might not go with the students' interest. This paper purports to provide insights on ESP instruction through the consideration of theoretical evidence as well as pedagogical practices. Major problems in ESP classrooms are investigated and the different stages of ESP course are developed from the theoretical and practical perspectives. The article would add valuable evidence to ESP research that is considered very limited in the Algerian context.
Emotionality in the Foreign Language Classroom
This study sought to uncover the root of the negative feelings first-year students experienced while studying Phonetics at the Department of English, University of Frère Mentouri, Constantine 1. Maintaining positive perceptions about the teaching-learning process is influential in paving the way for effective foreign language learning. The present paper attempts to find the correlation between different learning elements: Classroom conditions, peers' influence, methods and strategies used in Phonetics teaching with first-year classes, and the learners' preconceived negative thoughts. A questionnaire was employed as the primary data collection tool. The findings revealed that students' lack of motivation to learn was caused by multiple factors, including the opinion of former students regarding the subject matter, classroom conditions, and the techniques and pedagogical tools used by teachers. These findings confirm the correlation between the learners' preconceived negative thoughts and the mentioned factors.
الأداء المتميز لمؤسسات التعليم العالي بدولة الكويت في ضوء ثقافة الجودة الشاملة
تهدف الدراسة إلى قياس جودة الأداء بمؤسسات التعليم العالي بدولة الكويت في ضوء ثقافة الجودة الشاملة ولتحقيق ذلك: شمل مجتمع الدراسة مؤسسات التعليم العالي الكويتية، أما العينة فتكونت من (400) عضوا من أعضاء الهيئة التدريسية في هذه المؤسسات. وتوصلت الدراسة إلى أن هناك علاقة بين ثقافة الجودة الشاملة والأداء المتميز في مؤسسات التعليم العالي الكويتية وكانت بدرجة متوسطة. وقد تبين أن تبني ثقافة الجودة الشاملة يساعد العاملين في الجامعة على أداء واجباتهم ومسؤولياتهم بشكل صحيح، ويؤدي كذلك إلى تقديم خدمات تعليمية ذات مزايا فريدة، كذلك أظهرت النتائج عدم وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية لمتوسطات إجابات أفراد عينة الدراسة من أعضاء الهيئة التدريسية في مؤسسات التعليم العالي الكويتية حول ثقافة الجودة الشاملة والأداء المتميز تعزى لمتغيري الجنس، المؤهل العلمي، في حين تبين وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية لمتوسطات إجابات أفراد عينة الدراسة تعزى لمتغير العمر ولصالح الفئة العمرية الأعلى (أكثر من 46 سنة). وأوصت الدراسة بتحفيز العاملين في مؤسسات التعليم العالي الكويتية لتطبيق المفاهيم الحديثة في نظم الجودة وإدارة الجودة الشاملة.
Exploring the Implementation of English as a Medium of Instruction in Algerian Higher Education
This research paper investigates the implementation of English as a Medium of Instruction in Algerian higher education in light of the recent Englishization drive. Algeria's recent policy shift towards endorsing English as the main medium of instruction in universities has significant implications for the educational scene in Algeria. Through a literature review and a questionnaire, this research investigates the motivations for change, its implications, inherent challenges and suggested strategies for success. The paper argues that the success of the Englishization shift is subject to empowering content teachers as change forerunners, and offers recommendations for policy and practice, including strategies for supporting content teachers' agency and addressing the challenges emanating from this transition.
The Role of Scientific Research in Developing Educational Policies for Higher Education Institutions
Scientific research is effective in developing educational policies and identifying future plans for the development of higher education. The study aimed to identify the role of scientific research in developing educational policies for higher education institutions. The sample of the study was (107) Reviewers from various scientific journals at the Islamic University. The mixed method was used. The results of the study indicated that the general Mean of the scientific research referee's estimates of the role of scientific research in developing educational policies came with a high degree of approval and relative weight of (77.03%), and there were no differences in the estimates of the study sample due to the variables of gender, scientific degree and years academic of experience, the results of the interview supported the quantitative results that were reached. The study recommended to update the policies and regulations governing institutions of higher education.
اتجاهات ممارسي العلاقات العامة في المؤسسات الخدمية التعليمية الكويتية واستخدام التقنيات الرقمية في ضوء نظرية UTAU
تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تعرف اتجاهات ممارسي العلاقات العامة في المؤسسات الخدمية التعليمية الكويتية للتقنيات الرقمية؛ وذلك من خلال الوقوف على مدى استخدامهم لها ومدى تبنيهم ومستوى رضاهم عنها واتجاههم نحو التأثيرات الإيجابية والسلبية لاستخدام هذه التقنيات في مجال عملهم، وكذلك العوامل المؤثرة في قبول ممارسي العلاقات العامة للتقنيات الرقمية واستخدامها في مجال عملهم من خلال تطبيق النظرية الموحدة لقبول التكنولوجيا UTAUT واستخدامها؛ وذلك بالاعتماد على المنهج الوصفي باستخدام أداة الاستبانة الموجهة لممارسي العلاقات العامة. وانطلاقاً من عدة تساؤلات أهمها.. ما مدى استخدام ممارسي العلاقات العامة للتقنيات الرقمية الحديثة داخل المؤسسات الخدمية التعليمية ومدى تقبلهم لتوظيفها داخل بيئة العمل؟ وتوصلت الدراسة إلى العديد من النتائج منها تأكيد معظم ممارسي العلاقات العامة في المؤسسات الخدمية التعليمية على التأثير الإيجابي للتقنيات الرقمية في مجال عملهم، باعتباره نمطاً حديثاً، ولمواكبة التطورات التكنولوجية التي اجتاحت جميع المجالات في الفترات الأخيرة. واتفقت غالبية عينة الدراسة على الأداء المتوقع الذي تحققه التقنيات الرقمية الموظفة في العلاقات العامة بالمؤسسات الخدمية التعليمية، والذي يمكن أن يحقق اختصار الوقت والجهد، ويتيح إنجاز المهام بشكل أسرع في الأداء؛ وذلك عن طريق سرعة التواصل وتبادل المعلومات بين المؤسسات الخدمية التعليمية والمؤسسات الأخرى، والإسهام في تخفيف أعباء العاملين فيها.
